Ducks (-110): The schedule makers sure didn’t do the Ducks any favors giving them a 5 game road trip to start the season. So far through 3 games the Ducks are 0-2-1 and have only managed 1 point. Tonight however I think they find that first win of the year, it’s a long season and I’m not going to let 3 games keep from playing the Ducks at only -110 against a team like New Jersey.

Islanders (-115): When you see the Islanders favored against a team as good as the Sharks it gets your attention. Tonight it’s the case because it looks like it’ll be backup goalie Aaron Dell in net for the Sharks. San Jose is playing their 3rd road game in 4 days tonight and should be a bit worn down. Factor in a night off for Martin Jones and there’s enough here to expect an Isles win.

Kings (+105): The loss of Jonathan Quick is obviously going to hurt the Kings quite a bit, and with an 0-2 start to the season it already has. I think they can get that first win of the season tonight though as they face the Wild and backup goalie Darcy Kuemper. Quick is critically important to this team, but I don’t think they’ll completely fall apart without him. I’ll hitch my ride to them tonight as the small road dog.

Stars (+125): There really isn’t much to this one. I think these teams are roughly equal, if anything I’ve got Dallas valued slightly higher so I’ll be taking them at +125. It’s pretty much the same old Stars to start the season. Tons of offensive talent and not a ton of defense. At +125 though I’ll take my chances they can handle business tonight.

Sabres (+130): To be honest I’ll take just about anyone at +130 against the Flames. Flat out I think the Flames are a bottom 5 team in the league this year, and to get a price like this against them, even in Calgary is something I’m not going to pass on. That isn’t to say I’m taking the Sabres strictly as a Flames fade, I’m somewhat high on them this year. This is a young team that in general I think could surprise people a bit and even flirt with a playoff spot.
