NCAAF Season: 0-0-0, (0.00%) +0.00 Units

5 games on the slate in this “Week 0” or whatever they are calling it to get the College Football season going. I’ll only have a play in one of them however.

Colorado State (-4): On the surface you’d look at this one and wonder how a Mountain West team is laying 4 points against a PAC-12 team. To put it simply the answer is an explosive offense. Back at QB is Senior Nick Stevens who is poised to have a huge season. Stevens took over as the starter in mid October last year and in Colorado State’s last 6 games they averaged 48.3 points per contest. Stevens completed 64.3% of his passes with 19 TD’s and only 5 INT’s and also put up a very impressive 9.63 yards per attempt. In other words he was very good. He also has 3 of his top 4 WR’s back led by Michael Gallup who had 1272 yards and 14 TD’s last year on 16.7 yards per catch. Also returning are the Rams top 3 RB’s (Dalyn Dawkins, Izzy Matthews, and Marvin Kinsey Jr.) who combined for 2200 yards and 24 TD’s last season. Be it through the air or on the ground this is a Colorado State offense that looks like it’ll have some serious fun this season. On the other side Oregon State hands over the QB job to Idaho transfer Jake Luton. Luton beat out a few others to win the job this summer and after a year playing JUCO ball he’ll step back to the FBS level. Luton put up huge numbers in the Junior College ranks but needless to say it’s a different ballgame up at this level. He started his career at Idaho who isn’t exactly a powerhouse so it goes without saying that he wasn’t heavily recruited. Per usual Oregon State will likely be towards the bottom of the PAC-12 and frankly I just don’t think they have the firepower to hang with Colorado State here.
